Canned lion hunting is exposed in this thrilling fast-moving adventure novel when six hungry lions escape from their camp in the Lion Park, near Johannesburg during a severe storm. Sixteen year-old school friends, Paul Patterson and Rampha Singh, become involved as they witness two poachers hastily dart, seize and load four of the predators into an enclosed van before Park official Martin Resnick, can recapture them.

Two lionesses however are left behind, one of them wounded. In the dark and in heavy rain, police and Park officials with the boys in tow, hunt for the remaining animals. Chilling screams fill the night air as the marauders attack two of the men.

Later that week, one of the poachers Tiny Terblanche, a huge and dangerous man, spots Paul and Rampha snooping around his van. He ambushes and abducts them to the remote farm in Botswana where he and his partner run their canned lion hunting business.

Two American trophy-hunting clients arrive at the same time, causing a dilemma for Tiny who has the kidnapped boys trussed and locked up in one of the huts.

When Paul and Rampha do not arrive at the school canteen for supper next day, girlfriends Debbie and Ayesha are worried. They inform the headmaster, who organises an immediate search and rescue operation. How are they ever to locate the boys’ whereabouts?

Both lads’ budding love interests and Paul’s daunting family issues pale into  insignificance as he and Rampha manage to escape but now have to face the wet, dense and dangerous African bush in the dark.

Will the rescue team arrive in time before Tiny discovers the boys’ disappearance?

Will Paul and Rampha ever make it back to safety and civilisation?
